Nine students receive inaugural Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Student Award

The Alberta School Boards Association’s (ASBA) inaugural Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Student Award ceremony was held yesterday at Government House in Edmonton to celebrate nine student recipients from across Alberta.

Congratulations to VADA SUNSHINE, Grade 11 student at Hillside Jr/Sr High School, one of the nine recipients to receive the Award!

Created in collaboration with the Lieutenant Governor’s office, this award recognizes students who demonstrate determination, initiative and independence that leads to their improved success both academically and personally. 

The ceremony included remarks from the Honourable Salma Lakhani, AOE B.Sc., LLD (Hon), Lieutenant Governor of Alberta; the Honourable Demetrios Nicolaides, PhD, ECA, Minister of Education; and, Marilyn Dennis, ASBA President.

During the program, Vada was recognized for her strong work ethic, passion for learning, courage in facing challenges and positive impact on others.

"Vada is a strong role model for younger students. She spearheads student leadership activities and encourages other students to participate. Her enthusiasm and positivity are contagious."
