The Division is pleased to share that Mr. Rod Peterson has accepted the acting principalship at Rich Valley School, effective December 31, 2023.

Mr. Peterson has been a dedicated educator with Northern Gateway Public Schools for twenty years, teaching elementary students and helping to build the educational program at Rich Valley School through a demonstrated commitment to collaboration, relationships, and open communication where everyone has a voice. He brings a wealth of instructional expertise and leadership experience to the position honed over his years serving Rich Valley School in the additional roles of Lead Teacher, Mentor Teacher, and Inclusive Education Facilitator.

NGPS Superintendent Kevin Bird commented, "Mr. Peterson's long standing role within the school and greater community, and extensive administrative experience as support to Principal Muir, will ensure a smooth transition in leadership at Rich Valley School. We are happy to have Rod take on this leadership role and look forward to his contributions at the local and division levels."

"I am excited and honoured for the opportunity to start a new journey at Rich Valley School! I look forward to collaborating with students, staff and parents to continue the excellent programming and success our school has demonstrated over the years. It will be a pleasure to be part of a school community that will continue to provide a climate and culture that promotes learning and growth for all learners. I would like to thank Mr. Muir for being a great role model and leader and I wish him all the best at Darwell School!”
